Welcome to the Metro Dog Academy!
We are excited to offer the canine community a central place to go for classes, private sessions and special workshops. Whether you have a puppy you want to start off right, or a shelter dog who needs help becoming a pet, or you just want to do something fun with your furry friend, there is always something for you at the Metro Dog Academy.
To build a fun and successful relationship with your dog it is necessary to embrace the unique traits, experiences and skills that are your dog. Our hope is to guide you to see the best your dog has to offer and show you how to use it to build the relationship you want.
WHAT WE OFFER
Limited class sizes and lots of space create an ideal learning environment. There are classes for all levels and lots of personal attention in each class. More >
The focus on a single skill or problem allows the handler and the dog to explore techniques and practice what is most important. Workshops target the problems that break down your relationship with your dog and help you work together toward a solution. We offer workshops from a variety of local teachers. More >
One on one sessions with one of our very skilled certified trainers are regularly available to work on specific problems. Come for a single session just to get an overview of how to address your concerns about your dog or purchase a 4-consult package to save money for a series of sessions for intensive help. More >
We regularly host hour-long socials in our large training pavilion. These are opportunities for your social dog to play with like-minded friends. Socials are themed to ensure a harmonious environment. Check out the Puppy Social, Small Dog Social, Doodle Social, and more. More >
POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT TRAINING
We believe that positive methods of training and handling are the best practices in working with canines. We do not use harsh corrections, pain or fear to control the dogs in our care. We use positive redirection and train our staff to maintain a healthy relationship of boundaries and positive management.
All classes and presenters and dog handlers at Metro Dog ascribe to a positive reinforcement philosophy.
