Become A Client - Welcome!
To start the process of becoming a Metrodog, please register in our online customer portal – Gingr! For current clients adding a new dog, please log into your Gingr portal and add your additional dog under the account tab > manage profiles > add a pet. For all dogs, please fill out the application portion of the dog’s profile to the best of your ability, upload a photo of them for their profile, and upload or email a copy of their current vaccination records. Please expect an email response from us within 24 hours of applying to set up your dog’s assessment appointment- if applying on a weekend, you can expect a response by the end of the next business day. Be sure to keep an eye out in your spam box!
The assessment day begins with a 30 min meet & greet with you, followed by an up to 5 hour trial daycare stay for your dog. We ask that you book the assessment on a day that you can be available by phone to pick them up early if needed. The assessment fee is the half day rate for the daycare program your dog is accepted into and is charged for the time spent with the assessor.
Please understand that we care about each and every dog that we meet and we want them all to thrive. As such, we know and accept that we are not the right fit for every dog. Not every dog loves an active, stimulating social environment, which is not a negative reflection on Metro dog or your pooch.
You are required to keep a valid credit card on file in our encrypted credit card system to be a Metro Dog client. All fees are charged at drop-off.
Assessment Requirements
Dogs 6 months and older must be spayed or neutered.
We require proof of current vaccinations for Rabies, Bordetella, DHLPP, and CIV (canine influenza). Titers for Rabies and DHLP are accepted. CIV is a series and the first round must be complete before your dog can come in. Puppies need their first round of shots, specifically Parvovirus, to begin attending.
What To Expect On The Assessment Day
When you arrive, call our front desk (510-524-DOGS) at your appointed time to let us know you’re here! Your assessor will greet you at your car and escort you one of our outside play yards to become aquainted with your dog. You’ll stay for the first 30 minutes of your dog’s day during which time we will answer your questions and share information about our programs. We will go over procedures for drop off and put your credit card on file.
During the social evaluation, we observe your dog’s stress level and level of comfort in a new setting and meeting dogs. As long as we are not seeing red light signals, you may leave, and we will keep your pup for about 4-5 hours. Upon pick-up, we will give you their report card for the day and debrief how the day went and what their program and play group will be.
Please be available by phone to pick up your pup. If they show signs of stress we will call you to pick them up. It doesn’t mean they “failed” just that the new environment was a lot for them and ending earlier is better. We believe less is more and do not want to push your dog too much.
Please be prepared to provide a valid credit card to place on file in our encrypted credit card system. All fees are charged at time of drop off once your dog is accepted into our program.
We can’t wait to meet you and your furry beloved!
