Metro Dog cares about your dog’s well-being. As a trusted provider of dog daycare in Richmond, our daycare, grooming, training, and boarding programs are designed to meet your dog’s physical, social, and emotional needs at every stage of life.

We offer play groups designed for every size, type and age of dog from the active players to the mellow sun bathers. If group play is not the right fit for your dog, we also offer private care. We are a Green-Certified business located next to Pt. Isabel Regional Shoreline Park in Richmond, California.

Our handlers observe and interact with your dog and make adjustments to their day to meet their needs. Our programs have been ethically designed in alignment with LIMA principles (Least Intrusive Minimally Aversive). We do not use squirt bottles, shaker cans, or collar corrections to suppress unwanted behavior.

We treat your pup like a member of our own family!

Returning clients, if your dog has not attended in the last few months, please make a reservation for a full day of daycare so we can reassess your dog’s comfort, stress, and sociability levels. Success determines their eligibility. We will need updated vaccination records before they can attend . Drop-ins without reservations for returning clients may be turned away.

Please note: For the well-being of your dog and others, we cannot accept returning clients for boarding without multiple successful days of daycare prior to the board.

I have been a loyal Metro Dog client from almost the beginning, when I got my first dog Ollie back in 2007. I did not grow up with dogs so it was my first experience as a dog owner and I was trying to manage it as a single person working a full time job in SF. I desperately needed help and was so fortunate to have Metro Dog just up the street from where I lived. It was my weekday routine to walk Ollie there first thing in the morning to drop him off and then catch the Transbay bus into the city from the bus stop out front. After work, I would take the bus back to Metro Dog to pick Ollie up and walk home. When I traveled, they were my obvious choice for boarding. For nearly 15 years Metro Dog was an integral part of mine and Ollie's life. When he passed in 2022 it took me a couple of years to feel ready for another dog, but I would still see the familiar faces of Metro Dog staff and wave as they walked dogs up and down the street. I adopted Jax in 2024 and even though I ended up moving 4 miles up the hill shortly after doing so, Metro Dog was still my choice for boarding and day care. They changed ownership a few years ago but kept several of their most tenured staff (shout out to Lia and Keyon!) and have continued to make some great improvements since. The newer staff are also awesome and even though Jax is not nearly the day care regular that Ollie once was, everyone still recognizes Jax and me. You can tell the staff truly care about the dogs and I love that I can continue to rely on Metro Dog for a quality day care and boarding experience. Jax is very much a fan as well!

I absolutely love Metro Dog. First time as a pet owner as an adult and I can’t the staff enough in helping me raise my Sophie and when I pick her up after an overnight stay; she is done …. Haha… You will not be disappointed by the staff.  Absolutely ❤️❤️❤️❤️ them tremendously.

Metro Dog has been a dream for me and my rescue, Ellie. The daycare drop-off and pick-up process is a breeze, and I love knowing she’s getting lots of play and socialization while I’m at work or away. She gets excited when we pull into the parking lot and sleeps like a baby when we get home. The staff are so kind and attentive. Grateful to have found Metro Dog! Lucy Is a frequent Visitor for both daycare and occasionally overnight stays.
