About Us: Richmond's Premier Dog Care Center
Dog Boarding, Daycare, Grooming and Training in the East Bay
What Sets Metro Dog Apart
Metro Dog was built for dogs who deserve more than a traditional kennel experience. From playful puppies to nervous rescue dogs, our team focuses on creating a calm, enriching environment where pups feel comfortable and cared for like family.
As a trusted dog boarding and daycare facility in Richmond, we combine experienced staff, behavior-focused care, and 24/7 supervision to help dogs feel safe during every visit. We design our programs around positive reinforcement, structured socialization, and personalized routines that support long-term confidence and well-being.
Whether your dog is visiting for daycare, overnight boarding, or training support, our goal is simple: provide compassionate care that gives both pups and their owners peace of mind.
Our Story & Mission
Our mission is simple: to create a dog care center where pups are treated with patience, respect, and individualized attention rather than a one-size-fits-all routine. When your pup is here, they’re a part of the family.
For over 21 years, we’ve worked with dogs of all personalities, energy levels, and behavioral needs. Through that experience, we recognized that many dogs thrive when they’re introduced to new environments on their own terms. That understanding continues to shape everything we do today.
Our approach focuses on relationship-building, positive reinforcement, and carefully managed playgroups that prioritize safety and compatibility. We take the time to understand each dog’s comfort level, personality, and behavior patterns before integrating them into daycare or boarding programs.
Our Richmond Location & Facility
Located in Richmond and serving nearby communities throughout the East Bay, we provide a safe, structured, and engaging environment for dogs of all sizes and temperaments.
Our facility features supervised play areas, comfortable boarding accommodations, enrichment activities, and carefully managed group interactions that help dogs stay mentally and physically stimulated throughout the day. We also maintain structured routines that help reduce stress and create consistency, especially for dogs who may struggle with separation anxiety or unfamiliar environments.
Before joining daycare or boarding programs, dogs are evaluated to help ensure proper group placement and personalized care recommendations. This allows our team to create safer, more positive experiences for every dog in our care.

Perks of Visiting Our Facility
Outside Yards
Dogs enjoy two outdoor play yards covered with k-9 grade grass. They can play with each other, climb the play structures, or just soak up the sun!
Indoor Yards
We have five different indoor play yards of various sizes. Groups are rotated through the yards, allowing them to explore and play in new areas.
Play, Rest, Repeat!
While your dog is at Metro Dog, they will enjoy a balance of play and rest. They rest with friends either loose in their room on Kuranda cots, or in a comfy crate in their room with friends.
24 Hour On-Site Supervision
Someone is always near at Metro Dog! We are staffed 24/7.
Visual Barriers
Visual barriers throughout the center maintain safe separation between dog groups while decreasing frustration and stress.
Play Structures
All our yards have dog friendly play structures that provide fun challenges and great exercise.
Rubber Floors
All of our 5 indoor yards are completely covered with rubber flooring to reduce the impact on your dog’s bones.
Enrichment Activities
Our handlers are always ready to offer playtime, some TLC, or challenge your dog’s mind with problem solving food games and obstacle courses.
Dog Spa
While your dog is boarding, or spending a few hours with us in day care, we can give them a bath, brush-out, and nail trim. See below for options and rates.
Park Adventure Trips
Everyday we take eligible dogs on off-leash trips to dog-friendly East Bay regional parks. Application and approval required.
Neighborhood Walks
Request a leashed, neighborhood walk so your dog can enjoy one-on-one time with a handler and get some extra sniffs into their day.
Our Expert Team & Approach
We believe successful care starts with understanding behavior. That’s especially important for anxious, nervous, or reactive dogs who may need additional patience and structure to feel secure. Our staff works closely with dogs to build trust gradually while helping them develop confidence through calm, positive experiences.
Unlike facilities that rely on rigid routines, our team takes a more personalized approach. We evaluate temperament, comfort level, energy, and social behavior to help every pup find their perfect fit within the pack.
