Become A Client - Welcome!
Please read thoroughly so you understand the process. To become a client, please register for our online customer portal, Gingr. Please upload or email your dog’s current vaccination records and an individual photo of them for their profile.
Please understand that we care about each and every dog that we meet and we want them all to thrive. As such, we do not approve every dog. Not every dog loves an active, stimulating environment that is very social. This does not mean anything negative about your dog.
We require all dogs 6 months and older to be spayed or neutered. Please do not apply if your dog is over 6 months old and still intact.
Once we receive your application materials we will email you to look at scheduling your assessment day. Please expect an email from us within 24 hours of applying- if you apply on a weekend, please expect an email the following buisness day. (Please keep an eye out for our emails in your spam folder!)
The assessment is a 4-5 hour process for your dog. You stay for 30 minutes to an hour. You will be charged at the half day rate for the day care program your dog is accepted into.
You are required to keep a valid credit card on file in our encrypted credit card system to be a Metro Dog client. There are no exceptions to this requirement. All fees are charged at drop-off.
Your dog’s vaccinations must not be expired. We require proof of vaccinations for Rabies, Bordetella, DHLPP (Leptospirosis included), and CIV (canine influenza). Titers for Rabies and DHLP are accepted. CIV is a series and the first round must be complete before your dog can come in. Puppies need their first round of shots, specifically Parvovirus, to begin attending.
Upload vaccination records to your dog’s Gingr profile, or email them to newclient@metrodog.com.
Once we receive your registration, current vaccination records, and photo of your dog, we will email you to schedule your Assessment appointment. Please expect a response within 24 hours, if you apply on a weekend, expect a response on the next business day. (Please keep an eye out for our emails in your spam folder!)
The cost is the listed fee for the half day program your dog is placed into.
We offer tours of the facility on Sundays at 4 PM. Email info@metrodog.com to sign up in advance and confirm a tour is happening on the Sunday you want to attend.
The Assessment Day
When you arrive, stay in your car, and call our front desk (510-524-3647) at your appointment time to let us know you are in the parking lot. Please do not call early as we may not be able to answer the phone.
Your assessor will meet you in the parking lot at your appointment time.
The meet and greet will be held in our outside play yard. You’ll stay for the first 30 minutes of your dog’s day during which time we will answer your questions, and share information about our programs. We will go over procedures for drop off and put your credit card on file.
During the social evaluation, we observe your dog’s stress level and level of comfort in a new setting and meeting dogs. As long as we are not seeing red light signals, you may leave, and we will keep your pup until 4-5 PM. Upon pick-up, we will give you their report card for the day and debrief how the day went and what their program and play group will be.
Please, be available to pick up your pup earlier than 4-5 PM. If they show signs of stress we will call you to pick them up. It doesn’t mean they “failed” just that the new environment was a lot for them and ending earlier is better. We believe less is more and do not want to push your dog.
Please be prepared to provide a valid credit card to place on file in our encrypted credit card system. All fees are charged at time of drop off once your dog is accepted into our program.
